Iran 3rd country in handicrafts

ARAK, Aug. 25 (MNA) – Deputy Head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) Bahman Namvar Motlaq says that following China and India, Iran is the 3rd country in the field of handicrafts production.

Attending the closing ceremony of the 11th Handicrafts Exhibition on Monday evening in Iran’s Markazi province, Namvar Motlaq said “different economic programs including the plans of the 6th five-year development, resistance economy, the post sanction era and provisional planning are indeed vital and require significant decisions in order to change the country’s future.”

Talking about handicrafts, he added “cultural industries can bring along identity, employment and production, and flourish the economy. It can also transfer the beauties of Iranian art and artists beyond the seas. As a noteworthy point I should add that no other professions in the world can create new employment opportunities more than handicrafts.”

The Iranian official added “different organizations inducing the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting and the municipality can promote culture and encourage the people to use handicrafts.”

In other news, Head of Markazi province’s ICHTO Seyed Mohammad Husseini said that the expo included 210 stalls and over 300 artists attended the event. “The expo was an effective step towards employment which can also set the grounds for artists in other markets”, he added.
